Compress image to KB

Shrink a photo to a size in KB, such as 20, 50, 100 or 200 KB, for document, visa and job portals. It runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device.

or drop them here

Files are processed right in your browser and never leave your computer.

How to compress image to KB

  1. 1

Choose files on your computer or phone, or drop them into the box above.

  2. 2

Set the options and press «Compress».

  3. 3

Download the result. Nothing to install, no sign-up.

Pick your photo and choose the size you need in KB. The converter looks for the best quality that still fits under that number. If the quality alone is not enough, it also makes the picture smaller until it fits.

This is handy when a portal says "file must be under 100 KB" and your phone photo is several megabytes. Common targets are 20, 50, 100 and 200 KB. You can drop in JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, AVIF, BMP, TIFF or JFIF files, and you can do several files at once.

The result is a JPEG. The exception is WebP and AVIF: those stay in their own format. So if a form only accepts JPEG, a PNG or HEIC photo will come out ready to upload.

Everything happens right in your browser. Your file is never uploaded anywhere, and once the page is open it keeps working offline. There is no size limit other than the memory of your device.

One thing to know: the lower the target, the more the picture has to give up. For a very small size like 20 KB, the photo may be reduced in dimensions as well as quality, so fine detail can be lost.
