MP4 to GIF
Turn an MP4 video into an animated GIF right in your browser. It uses the first 30 seconds and keeps the file small enough for chats and slides.
or drop them here
Files that convert in your browser never leave your computer. Files sent to our servers are deleted after an hour.
How to convert MP4 to GIF
- 1
Choose a MP4 file on your computer or phone, or drop it into the box above.
- 2
Check that GIF is selected and press «Convert».
- 3
Download the GIF file. You can convert many files at once.
Pick your MP4 and the converter turns the first 30 seconds into a looping GIF. If your video is longer, everything after the 30-second mark is left out. If you want a different moment, trim the video first so the part you need comes at the start.
To keep the GIF small, the converter uses 10 frames a second and a width of at most 480 pixels. That is enough for a reaction clip, a quick demo or a short moment you want to share in a messenger or drop into a presentation.
The conversion runs in your browser. Your video is never uploaded anywhere, and the only size limit is the memory of your device. Once the page is open, it keeps working even if you go offline. You can also add several files and convert them in one go.
Keep in mind what a GIF is. It is an old image format with up to 256 colours, so gradients and detailed footage can look rougher than the original video. A GIF also has no sound, so the audio from your MP4 will not come along.
